Here's an odd choice: collections of Pauline Kael's movie reviews. These are not stories. Often I haven't seen the movies she is talking about. But reading the reviews is relaxing for me. I appreciate her enthusiasm and her writing skill.
Others: Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House, Upton Sinclair's The Jungle (when I want to feel good about what I do for a living),Russell Hoban's Turtle Diary.

hello there and thanks for your information ? I've certainly picked up anything new from proper here. I did then again expertise several technical points the usage of this site, as I experienced to reload the site lots of instances previous to I may just get it to load correctly. I were thinking about if your hosting is OK? No longer that I'm complaining, but slow loading instances instances will sometimes have an effect on your placement in google and can damage your high quality rating if ads and marketing with Adwords. Anyway I'm adding this RSS to my e-mail and can look out for much extra of your respective intriguing content. Make sure you update this again soon..

All the Queens Men by Linda Howard is my guilty pleasure read. I love the emotions and what the angst between her characters make me feel. And on a totally basic level, I simply love the complexity of the hero. My guilty pleasure movie is Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. The theme of fated lovers gets me every time and each time I watch it I secretly hope they'll get a happy ending but...she dies every time. :(

Mallory--good to see you. TWILIGHT--golly, how could I have missed mentioning the whole Protector thread in that?? It's very Gothic, this notion of the Protector protecting the heroine from himself. And thanks for the congrats for my nephew. He's doggone proud--as are we all!

Thanks for swinging by, Angi. My SIL was all over the Army Mom tee shirt. Interesting that men appreciate our independence while we mostly hide the secret that some days we want to be protected.
